FOUR MAIN CLASSIFICATIONS OF WINES

Light Beverage (natural still wines) - Red , White, Rose, etc. Alcohol content 14% or less.
Grape and Other Fruits
Cider and Perry - wine made from apples and pears
Mead - wine made from honey

Sparkling Wine - Champagne, sparling Bugundy, vin mousseux, Asti Spumante, Sekt, etc. alcohol content 14% or less.

Fortified (dessert wines) - Sherry, Port, Madeira, Marsala, Malaga, etc. Alcohol content over 14% but not over 24%.

Aromatized (quinned wines) - Vermouth, etc. Alcohol content 15 1/2% to 20%.
