Beer -
generic term for malt beverages
Lager - Bright, clear, light-colored brews. Alcoholic strength about
4% by volume.
Pilsner - Bright, light, lagered beers.
Bock - Heavy, darker, and somewhat sweeter beer.
Malt Liquor - Light and pale with a higher alcohol content.
Ale - Darker and more bitter brews. Alcoholic strength about 4 1/2%
by volume.
Porter and Stout - Very full-bodied, rich malt brews. Alcoholic strength
about 6% by volume.
Porter - dark color, bittersweet taste, lower in alcohol
Stout - very dark ale that is malty and slightly bitter, flavored and colored
by adding roasted barley to the brew.
Sake - Slightly sweet with a dry aftertaste brewed from rice. Sometimes
referred to as "rice wine" because it lacks the carbonation of beer.
It is Alcoholic strength about 14 to 16% by volume. |
